Women’s Empowerment

At Fondation-LAB, we’ve identified the following key areas of intervention:

School dropouts

young women who have not had the opportunity to complete their education.

Unemployed youth

young women who have not been able to acquire the skills that employers require.

Gender equity

teaching young men to value and respect women and their role in society.

Poor lifestyle choices

young women who have lost faith in the education system and who have been led astray by drugs, alcohol and sex work.

Women’s empowerment

making women more aware of their capacities and strengths so that they can become the leaders their community needs.
Towards a solution
Fondation Lance d’Afrique Burundi, Fondation-LAB, social entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment throughout Africa, Women Empowerment, Sustainable Development Goals
We strive to give women the confidence to stand up for themselves and be independent and to encourage them to be effective actors of the economic development of their country. Through our youth empowerment initiatives, we foster youth leadership and reduce school dropouts by providing high school students with leadership training, professional skills development and entrepreneurship. We look to raise their awareness of the importance of gender equity and women’s empowerment. In addition, we will invite students to meet local and international social entrepreneurs and leaders to learn from their stories, get advice and expand their networks. Our initiatives make students more likely to gain employment or scholarships and equip them to entrepreneurs.
Gender Equality Centre
The Gender Equality Centre (GEC) exists to foster social justice by advocating for the rights of women, empowering those without a voice, and challenging all forms of inequality. The GEC supports women interested in bettering themselves and the world around them. The GEC also works to provide a safe environment for all women, regardless of their sexual orientations and/or gender identities.
Aims
The aims of the Gender Equality Centre:

  • The ultimate eradication of human trafficking.
  • Improvements in the legal environment for victims of trafficking, gender-based violence and rape.
  • Improvements in the provision of social services for survivors victims of trafficking, gender-based violence and rape.
  • To promote gender equality at all levels of society.
A place for everyone
The Gender Equity Centre provides a friendly, supportive environment for people of all gender identities to explore, celebrate, and educate the community about gender equity.

Advocacy Programmes
